About the Founder
“And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.”
-Ezekiel 1:4
This verse describes a powerful and radiant vision of God’s presence, often interpreted as a symbol of divine guidance, transformation, and spiritual awakening—aligning with the mission of Colour of Amber Ministries, Inc. to bring light, healing, and hope to those in need.

El Paso, like much of Texas, faces a significant gap in mental healthcare access, leaving many individuals without the support they need. Recognizing this critical need, Guadalupe Madrid (Lupe), PhD, LPC-S, founded Colour of Amber Ministries, Inc. with a mission to bridge that gap through both secular therapy and faith-based counseling.
With over 15 years of experience in crisis intervention, trauma, forensic counseling, and humanitarian services, Lupe has spent her career advocating for individuals facing life’s most difficult challenges. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Approved LPC Supervisor in Texas, a doctoral-level Faith-Based Counselor, a Doctor of Theology, a CEAP Candidate, a Notary Public, and an Ordained Minister in the state of Texas.
Lupe has served as an Adjunct Professor at Webster University and Park University, teaching courses in Crisis Intervention, Human Growth & Development, and Psychology. Her expertise extends to law enforcement training, where she has collaborated on mental health sensitivity programs, chaplaincy training on therapeutic approaches to substance use, and human trafficking identification. She has played a key role in humanitarian efforts through the Office of Refugee and Resettlement (ORR) by conducting safety assessments and identifying victims of human trafficking.
Her experience includes providing mental health services through Federal, State, and Local Law Enforcement Contracts, such as the Bureau of Prisons (BOP), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Texas Department of Corrections (Art. 16.22 Assessments), and the El Paso Police Department.
Beyond her professional work, Lupe is deeply committed to community outreach and education, volunteering her time to deliver wellness presentations on Trauma, Grief, Human Trafficking Awareness, Child Abuse Awareness, and Drunk Driving Awareness. She is passionate about helping people from all walks of life and has dedicated herself to providing compassionate, and accessible counseling through Colour of Amber Ministries, Inc.
